Žaliakalnis

In 1919, Žaliakalnis officially became part of Kaunas (Lithuania) and finally took shape after WWI until 1940. Many buildings were constructed following modernism style... but this you can find on Google...
For me, this part of the city has a special value as my few first years of life were spent here. After we moved to not so fascinating part of the city, my grandmother continued living here. So since I was a little kid, I would visit my grandma and go for a walk in Žaliakalnis with parents of alone.
When I was a student, I would get off the bus in one part of the district and walk looking around towards my university.
I honestly didn't like my city growing up, but this part of town somehow had some magic, something special and different.
I moved out of Kaunas in 2005 and I told myself if I'd move back, that would only be if I moved back to Žaliakalnis. And this summer it happened - I moved here.... maybe not permamentely, but it did feel like home!
As I have great passion for architecture and morning strolls, I used to take my camera for morning walks and photograph the uniqueness of building in THE district!
Some building are new, some are old, some renovated, some are abandoned or slowly decaying. It's just special feeling to walk around this once very modern place in town.

The project was entirely shot on Sony A7cR camera, using 55mm f1.8 and 90mm f2.8 macro lenses.
